Collection: Super Nintendo

The SNES launched in Japan in 1990 (as the Super Famicom) and in North America in 1991. It was a 16-bit console that improved graphics, sound, and gameplay over the NES. Classics like Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Donkey Kong Country, and Super Metroid defined the system. Selling over 49 million units worldwide, the SNES is remembered for its polished library and as Nintendo’s answer to the Sega Genesis during the 16-bit “console wars.”
