Collection: Genesis Games
The Sega Genesis (known as the Mega Drive outside North America) was released in Japan in 1988 and in the U.S. in 1989. It was a 16-bit console that competed with the NES and later the Super Nintendo, offering faster action and arcade-style graphics. Its most famous franchise was Sonic the Hedgehog, which became Sega’s mascot. The Genesis sold over 30 million units worldwide and is remembered for its role in the “console wars” of the early 1990s.
